Hypnosis
In a hypnotherapy session you are guided into a relaxed state.
Then a hypnosis/trance is induced so that the conscious mind is subdued (the part that allows awareness of self and surroundings).
This is the part that ‘talks’ to you most of the time, is logical, analytical and can be disbelieving.
Once in a trance, when you are neither unconscious nor asleep (depth of trance can vary throughout the session, however this is usual), the hypnotherapist works with the subconscious part of the mind to explore feelings, habits, impulses and irrational thoughts.
As the subconscious is now highly focused and more receptive proven hypnotherapy techniques empower the person to make positive change, leading to new behaviour and achievement of goals.
Although you may have tried in various ways to change something about yourself and are consciously aware of what you want to achieve, the subconscious mind is more receptive to reframing and resolving issues.
It is important to note that in all sessions, including regression sessions (where applicable), you are in control. Your beliefs and values do not change in a hypnotic state, although your perceptions, especially as you relax initially, may change e.g. you may feel heavier or lighter than usual.
Carol is also a qualified hypnotist and uses hypnosis to help a client to resolve any issues which can be causing problems emotionally or physically at the present time.
These issues may have originated during an earlier time in this life or past life. In this case Carol can regress you to when this pattern occured to bring resolution to the present.
Number of sessions
The number of sessions required depends largely on how well a person responds to hypnosis. If after the first session you do not feel you have achieved a state of trance, you will be encouraged to practise self-hypnosis to achieve a deeper state before returning. Most people respond better in a second session, as in general they relax more easily.
Hypnotherapy is a brief therapy and most issues require two to four sessions before the person feels they have control, however there are exceptions. Sessions are usually timetabled to meet the needs of the client, however someone may be advised to have a second session close to the first due to emotional issues.
